The Punjab Government on Tuesday urged to the Punjab and Haryana High Court to complete the recruitment process quickly during the hearing of the case regarding the recruitment of 5994 teachers.

Giving information about this, spokesman of the Punjab government said that a case regarding the recruitment of 5994 teachers was taken up for hearing today before the double bench headed by Honorable Justice Deepak Sibal and Justice Sukhwinder Kaur.

(SUBHEAD)During the hearing, Senior Deputy Advocate General Ramandeep Singh Pandher appeared on behalf of the Punjab government, requested the Court that it is very imperative for the Punjab Government to complete this recruitment process as soon as possible as this will help to meet the shortage of teachers in the schools where at present only single teachers are running the affairs in many schools.

He also disclosed that this matter is also under consideration of the Supreme Court. If the decision does not come soon from the Supreme Court, then the Hon'ble High Court should give an interim order in this regard so that the recruitment process can be carried out. He also requested the court to schedule the next hearing of this matter as soon as possible, after which the court accepted and fixed the next hearing of this matter on December 12, 2023.

It is worth mentioned here that the school education minister Harjot Singh Bains actively participated in the recruitment process and he personally taking up the legal issues with AG office for the speedy resolution of this matter in the court. Pertinently, the hearing of the case related to this matter was completed by the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court on July 27, 2023 and the decision was reserved. Mr. Bains has issued an instruction to the officials of the education department that as soon as the decision is pronounced by the Supreme Court, application should be filed in the High Court for the settlement of this matter.
