DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR ANMOL KHARB; PRANAUV RAM N WINS BOYS SINGLES TITLE

Anmol Kharb of Haryana earned a double by winning the girls singles and girls doubles titles while Pranauv Ram N. of Telangana claimed the boys singles title in the Yonex-Sunrise 30th Smt Krishna Khaitan All India Junior (U-19) Ranking Badminton Tournament here on Monday.

Top seed Anmol Kharb prevailed over a never-say-die second seed Tanvi Sharma of Punjab in the hotly-contested girls singles final by 21-13, 21-23, 21-16. In the one hour battle for the crown, both players exhibited their best skills. While Anmol claimed the first set at 21-13, Tanvi hit back and snatched the second set by 23-21. Cheered by the home crowd, Anmol wrapped up the final by winning the deciding set by 21-16.

The Haryana top seed Anmol went on to complete her double by winning the girls doubles final. Anmol pairing with Vennala K of Telangana, the fourth seeds, rallied to overcome qualifiers Taarini Suri [Q]/Shravani Walekar of Maharashtra by 17-21, 21-15, 21-11 in 48 minutes.

Pranauv Ram N. emerged winner in the boys singles final in 30 minutes. He defeated 12th seed Lalthazuala H. of Mizoram who retired after his rival had taken the first set by 21-15 and led 11-2 in the second set.

Third seeds Mayank Rana and Sanskar Saraswat defeated Rohan Kumar Anandas Raj Kumar and Rahul Dravid Batti by 21-15, 21-16 in the boys doubles final..

Boys singles U19: Pranauv Ram N. bt Lalthazuala H. [12] Retired 21-15, 11-2.

Boys doubles U19: Mayank Rana [3]/Sanskar Saraswat bt Rohan Kumar Anandas Raj Kumar/Rahul Dravid Batti 21-15, 21-16.
