SHANKER AND SHATAKSHIKA LIFT SINGLES CROWN

Shanker Heisnam and Shatakshika Sahayak claimed a double crown of both boys and girls under-18 singles and doubles in the CLTA-AITA National Series Tennis Tournament for Boy’s & Girl’s under-18 at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here on Saturday.

Third seed Shanker Heisnam of CLTA Trainee defeated sixth seed Jatin Nain of Haryana in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in Boys under-18 singles final. On the previous day Shanker also won the boys under-18 doubles title. Shanker played high quality tennis with his aggressive game style. Shanker maintained his momentum and cool temperament throughout the match.

Another CLTA player Shatakshika Sahayak outplayed fourth seed Rubani Kaur Sidhu a CLTA Trainee in the Girls under-18 singles final. Shatakshika played a solid match in the 1st set and won the set 6-1 easily. In the second set both players played a good level of tennis, finally Shatakshika used her experience and maintained her momentum and won the set and match 6-4.
