SHOOTER WANTED IN SENSATIONAL ARMED ROBBERY CUM ATTEMPT TO MURDER CASE ARRESTED

In continuation of previous press note released on 11.12.2023, in which the team of NR-I/Crime Branch had arrested an accused named Mohd Shafiq, 44 Years, R/o Sector-6, Narela, Delhi, who committed robbery cum attempt to murder of a dry fruit trader of Chandni Chowk, Delhi.

Case FIR No. 429/2023, U/s 392/394/397/307/34 IPC, PS Roop Nagar, Delhi had been worked out with the arrest of the accused. 02 pistols along with 05 cartridges were recovered from his possession. Later, another accused Aman was also arrested by the team of Crime Branch. Further, hard work as well as detective skills of the team helps in the apprehending of one remaining accused named Ritik, 21 Years, R/o Narela, Delhi, who was the shooter in the incident.  

INCIDENT: On 30.11.2023, complainant, aged 64 years, R/o Prem Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Delhi alleged that he was attacked by 02 unknown persons. He further alleged that he had closed his dry fruits’ shop in Chandni Chowk at about 08.15 PM and moved towards his home. After parking the car around 40-50 meters away from his home, he took out a bag from the car.  

In the meantime, one of the assailants attacked on him with a knife and tried to snatch his bag. Simultaneously, the second assailant, armed with a weapon, fired a gunshot on the complainant. They managed to snatch the bag (containing keys of the shop and some papers) and quickly fled from the spot on a motorcycle with their other associate. In this regard, a case FIR No. 429/2023, U/s 392/394/397/307/34 IPC, PS Roop Nagar, Delhi was registered.

Secret information was received by ASI Ramesh Kumar that an accused Ritik, wanted in the robbery cum attempt to murder case of PS Roop Nagar, Delhi would come near Ramdev Road, Sector 6, Narela, Delhi to meet someone. Laying a good trap could help in his apprehending.

(SUBHEAD)Accordingly, a team led by Inspector Alok Kumar Rajan comprising of SI Narender Singh, ASI Sandeep, ASI Virender, ASI Ramesh, ASI Yogesh, HC Dinesh and HC Sanjeev under the supervision of ACP Vivek Tyagi was constituted by DCP Sanjay Bhatia to nab the criminal.

Mr. Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police,Crime, said, the team laid a trap at the place of information and apprehended the shooter named Ritik, 21 years. During sustained interrogation, he disclosed his involvement in the case of PS Roop Nagar, Delhi.

INTERROGATION: During the course of interrogation, accused Ritik disclosed that his other co-associates Aman and Mohd Shafiq lured him to commit a robbery by promising a share of ₹ 02 lakh. Hence, they made a plan to rob the dry fruits’ trader of Chandni Chowk, Delhi, who used to go home every evening with a black bag. Before the commission of crime, they did reccee of the entire route. On 30.11.2023, they followed the shop owner, intending to commit the loot, when the owner was returning to his home. During loot, a gunshot was also fired upon the shop owner by the accused Ritik and managed to snatch the bag.

Complainant sustained gunshot injuries and was admitted in hospital. Weapons (a knife and a pistol) used in commission of crime were provided by the accused Mohd Shafiq.

RECOVERY:  02 pistol with 05 live cartridges., 01 Royal Enfield motorcycle

PROFILE OF ACCUSED: Accused Ritik, 21-years, R/o Village Ganaur, District Sonipat, Haryana was currently residing in a rented accommodation at Narela, Delhi. He has studied up to 10th class only. He was working as a labourer. Due to financial constraints, he came in the contact with bad elements of the area and involved in the robbery cum attempt to murder case of PS Roop Nagar, Delhi.
