SAPTA SHAKTI COMMAND CELEBRATES 76th INDIAN ARMY DAY

South Western Command celebrated 76th Indian Army Day today. Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command paid homage to the Bravehearts and laid a wreath at the Prerna Sthal, Jaipur.

The Army Commander extended his best wishes to All Ranks, Veterans and the families. He complimented All Ranks for their commitment and hard work and exhorted them to stay alive to the expectations of a 21st Century professional Army. He assured the Veterans and Veer Naris of continued support from the organisation.

General (later Field Marshal) ‎K.M. Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in- Chief of the Indian Army post independence when he relieved General Sir FRR Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief on 15 January1949.

To commemorate this historic and significant event, 15 January is celebrated as Indian Army Day.
