Hosts Punjab, despite having a strong lead of 165 runs, UT boys managed to register a thrilling 61 runs win over their opponent on the last day of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match being played at PCA Stadium, Mullanpur on Wednesday.

A fine ton from skipper Arjun Azad and lethal bowling attack by Nishunk Birla led the team to their third win in the tournament. Earlier. Punjab scored 317 runs after bowling out Chandigarh for 152 runs in their first inning. Later, visitors scored 308 runs in the second innings and gave the target of 144 runs to the homeside. Arjun Azad added 179 in the innings.

Punjab, while resuming its overnight score to 30/2, was scalped against Nishunk Birla (7/32) who reduced the entire team for mere 82 runs. Punjab lost eight wickets in the span of 52 runs. Sukhdeep Bajwa (20) was the top scorer for the batting side. Chiragveer Dhindsa (2/34) took two wickets.

Chandigarh is at third place followed by Jharkhand and Saurashtra by securing 23 points. The team is still hopeful of the knock-out stage as UT boys will lock horns against Maharashtra in their last league match starting from February 18 at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium.
