Haryana's Minister of School Education, Shri Kanwar Pal, has congratulated and extended best wishes to the team of students and teachers of the department for setting a world record in the field of adventure and mountaineering, thereby bringing glory to the entire state.

Haryana School Education Department had sent 51 participants which included 22 boys and 22 girls of class XI, 3 male and 3 female teachers and 1 contingent leader to participate in the Basic Mountaineering Course-cum-Rhenock Peak 16500 feet mountaineering expedition. This program was conducted in the Sikkim region with the cooperation of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, in collaboration with the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling (West Bengal).

It is noteworthy that Haryana is the only state in India where mountaineering campaigns are organized at the department level for students of government schools. The Basic Mountaineering Course has also been added to this program so that students can choose mountaineering as a career option in the future.

The objectives of the mountaineering expedition include

Providing young students with an opportunity for nature study on mountains located at an altitude of more than 5000 meters through mountaineering, so that they can study the flora, fauna, wild life and people life there. To acquint students with the techniques and procedures of adventurous activities at higher altitudes.

Enhancing their fitness, self-confidence, organizational skills, decision-making abilities, and other personality traits.

Participants who qualify in this special mountaineering curriculum and campaign will be eligible to work as trainee instructors in any national-level mountaineering and adventure institute. After one month of training as a trainee instructor, they will be eligible for jobs as junior instructors in adventure institutes, adventure sports companies, etc., or they can work as freelance instructors. In addition, they can pursue mountaineering as a dedicated sport in their career and enhance their qualifications in Advanced Mountaineering Course (AMC) and Methods of Instruction (MOI), etc.
