Sargun-Saroj/Chandigarh

In the series of Gully Cricket tournament commencing from July 26, UT Cricket Association (UTCA) organized a meeting wherein various stakeholders including senior officials from Chandigarh Police and Social Welfare Department participated.

The meeting was chaired by UTCA’s President Sanjay Tandon to strengthen the tournament’s outline. DSP Ram Gopal of Chandigarh Police informed that the department's effort is to make the tournament more comprehensive than the previous edition.

A team of 48 personnel from all across 16 police stations has been formed. Each station will send 16 teams of boys and two of girls. Only players hailing from Chandigarh born between 1-4-2006 to 31-3-2010 are eligible for the tournament. He said that apart from these, ground and team liaison officers have also been appointed in all the nine venues of the city.

Tandon said that UTCA will once again create a record with the massive participation of 3456 players along with the expected 288 teams. He stressed that apart from creating records, the tournament will also strengthen the national anti-drug campaign. Representing the Social Welfare Department, Prabhjot Kaur said that their department will organize various activities under the nationwide campaign of the Govt of India’s 'Nasha Mukt Bharat'.
