TRIBUTES PAID TO MARTYRS AT DISTRICT-LEVEL POLICE COMMEMORATION EVENT

The district-level Police Commemoration Day was observed with great reverence at the Police Lines in Fazilka. Notable attendees at the event included SSP Gagan Ajit Singh, SDM Fazilka Jugraj Singh, and various judicial officers.

During the ceremony, police personnel—under the leadership of DSP Abohar Harish Kumar—presented a ceremonial salute to the fallen officers by holding their weapons inverted. All officials and guests also observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to the martyrs. DSP Lovdeep Singh Gill read out the names of those who had laid down their lives in the line of duty. Following this, family members of the martyrs were specially honored.

SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said that the supreme sacrifices made by police personnel for the peace and tranquillity of the nation and the state can never be forgotten. He expressed pride in the martyrs who laid down their lives without caring for their own lives, standing guard at the borders to protect the nation.

He noted that ‘Martyrs’ Commemoration Day’ is observed annually in memory of those valiant police personnel who, on October 21, 1959, made the ultimate sacrifice while guarding the country’s borders at Hot Springs in Ladakh.

Interacting with the families of the martyrs, the SSP listened to their concerns and assured them that the Punjab Government and the Fazilka Police would provide all possible assistance at every step
