The Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (PSCPCR) has taken cognizance of media reports regarding an incident in Lasara village in Phillaur, where a teacher allegedly thrashed students for not doing their homework. The Commission has written to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jalandhar (Rural), asking him to take appropriate action in this regard and submit the action report by 30 July, 2024.

Giving more information in this regard, PSCPCR Chairman Kanwardeep Singh said that according to media reports, families of children who are studying at the government primary school in Lasara, near Phillaur, claimed that the teacher slapped and beat the kids with sticks for not completing their homework. The incident involves students aged 8 and 10.
