DELHI POLICE NABS ACCUSED FROM BANGLA DESH BORDER DUPING ON PRETEXT OF SENDING FAKE PARCEL

CRIMINAL USED TO CHEAT PEOPLE ON THE PRETEXT OF FAKE PARCEL DELIVERY, 4 DAYS CHASE ENDED WITH THE RECOVERY OF RS 2.40 LACS

The staff of Cyber Police Station, South East Distt. has arrested one fraudster namely Kalyan Roy, a resident of Vill. Thakurmura, Tripura (Situated at Bangladesh Border). With the arrest of the accused, the recovery of Rs 2.40 lacs has been made. 

The complainant Sunil Verma alleged that in September -2021, he came in contact with a foreign lady (American) on Facebook. Thereafter, one day she sent a Whatsapp message to the complainant on his Whatsapp number and told that being a friend, she was sending Gold jewellery, mobile phones, laptop, few thousand American Dollars through courier. She requested the complainant to accept these articles.

In October-2021, the complainant received a call in which the caller told that he is a delivery partner and there is one parcel in his name containing precious articles lying with courier office. To release the said parcel, he asked the complainant to pay some amount. Believing the said call to be genuine, complainant paid a total amount of Rs.2,66,500/- on different dates in a bank account provided by the alleged person. Thereafter, the said caller stopped picking his calls. In this regard, a case FIR No. 182/2022, dated 08.02.2022, U/s 420 IPC, was registered at PS Amar Colony and the investigation of the case was taken up by team of PS Cyber/SED. 

Mr. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, DCP, South East Distt, said, on sustained interrogation, accused Kalyan Roy disclosed that he committed this offence with his known persons who used to meet him near his college from where the accused was pursuing graduation. He indulged in this activity in order to earn huge profits by duping people on the pretext of providing fake parcels.

Sensing the gravity of offence, a dedicated team comprising SI Anupam Bhardwaj, HC Shokender and Ct Churaman led by Insp Raj Kumar Singh SHO/ PS Cyber, South East District & Sh. Dilip Singh ACP/Ops, was constituted under the supervision of Ms. Aishwarya Sharma, Addl. DCP/SED and overall supervision of Sh. Ravi Kumar Singh DCP/SED to nab the fraudsters.

After going through a big chain of technical surveillance, the team ultimately the fraudster as Kalyan Roy s/o Pradip Roy R/o Thakurmura, Sonamura, Sepahijala, Tripura, age 26 yrs. Thus, the team conducted multiple raids in the highly sensitive and the tribal area continuously for 03 days at the residence of the accused i.e. Village Thakurmura (situated at the Bangladesh Border). After the sincere efforts, the team arrested accused Kalyan Roy. With the arrest of the accused, the recovery of the fraud amount of Rs 2.40 Lacs has been made.

INTERROGATION:-  Mr. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, DCP, South East Distt, said, on sustained interrogation, accused Kalyan Roy disclosed that he committed this offence with his known persons who used to meet him near his college from where the accused was pursuing graduation. He indulged in this activity in order to earn huge profits by duping people on the pretext of providing fake parcels.

KNOW THE ACCUSED:  Accused Kalyan Roy S/o Pradip Roy R/o Thakurmura, Sonamura, Sepahijala, Tripura is pursuing graduation. No previous involvement has been found against him.
