Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Crime, said this month-long pilot project is intended to save the youth and children in Delhi from the menace of drugs. Although the focus is to take stringent action on the supply side (the drug traffickers), it is also appealed to all sections of the society to create awareness and reduce the demand of drugs. Parents, family members, and teachers are especially urged to identify signs of drug abuse in children and take extraordinary measures to address the issue, with a focus on reducing demand. All may sensitize the youth about the grave consequences of drug addiction and prevent them from falling prey to this deadly evil.
Drug abuse is a serious problem that can have devastating consequences for individual, family and society. Intoxication can cause physical, mental and economic problems of the person and even death. Delhi Police is making continuous efforts to make Delhi drug-free, in which the cooperation of all is required. We urge everyone to join Delhi Police and other Government Departments, NGOs etc., in this campaign of fight against drugs, so that we all succeed in realizing the dream of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah of "नशामुक्त भारत".
