ANDHRA PRADESH JOURNALISTS DELEGATION VISIT GOLDEN TEMPLE AND JALLIANWALA BAGH, WITNESSED RETREAT CEREMONY

A delegation of journalists from Andhra Pradesh is on a tour of Punjab under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” programme. In the last leg of their tour, the journalists visited Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh and Gobindgarh Fort in Amritsar. The delegation also participated in beating the retreat ceremony at the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post (JCP).

AP journalists visited Shri Harmandir Sahib, also familiar as Golden Temple. The visiting journalists learnt it by experience about the service motive and the spirit of Sikhism.

The patriotic fervor of cross section of people experienced during the beating the retreat ceremony at Attari - Wagha JCP at India - Pakistan border, was a unique experience to the visiting journalists. Earlier, they visited BSF museum, showcasing photos and audio-visuals of the war and routine operations, it conducts to safeguard 553kms long Punjab bordersl with Pakistan.

Similarly, Partition Museum with several historical evidences in original and Audio- Visual presentations visualised the horrors sufferred by the people during the partition of the country. At Jallianwala Bagh, Shri Deepak Seth, great grandson of one of the victims of the horrific incident during the freedom struggle, explained the history at the site.

It is noteworth, that the delegation included eight journalists from prominent Andhra Pradesh newspapers, including The Hindu, Sakshi, Andhra Jyothi, Eenadu, The Hans India, Rahnuma e-Deccan, Vishalandhra, and Prajasakti.

The journalists expressed that the tour to Punjab has been a wonderful experience for them. During the trip, they learnt about Punjab’s rich culture and history and also gained insights into various ongoing projects in the region.

Shri Ramesh Chandra, Assistant Director (CBC, Vijayawada), and Dr. Vikram Singh, Media and Communication Officer, Press Information Bureau, Jalandhar, were also part of the team.
