In the Sriganganagar Bar Association elections, voters can avail NOTA option for the first time. Assistant Election Officers Vipin Sidh and Devender Kumar said that ballot papers have been sent for publication, polling is to be held on December 13.
There is a triangular contest between Hansraj Taneja, Jaswant Bhadu and Amandeep Kaur for the post of President. Arman Setia, Vinod Seewar, Varun Dixit are in the field for the post of Vice President. There is a direct contest between Laxman Ram and Ashok Saini for the post of Secretary.
The candidates have intensified their contact campaigns. Last time, the number of advocates having the right to vote was 1417, which has come down to 928 this time. Names of the advocates who do not practice regularly have been removed from the voter list as per the directions of the Supreme Court and the guidelines of the Bar Council of Rajasthan. But their membership in the Bar Association will remain intact. Due to the number of voters being less by about 500, all the candidates are vying to attract every single vote.
Two polling booths will be set up for polling from 10 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes immediately after voting ends. Videography of polling and counting will also be done.
