SUNNY SHARMA OF PANIPAT AND DEVINDER CHHABRA  OF NEELOKHERI (KARNAL) WAS SUPPLYING FIREARMS TO A CRIMINAL GANG ACTIVE IN DELHI/NCR., TOTAL 10 FIREARMS (03 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOLS & 07 SINGLE SHOT PISTOLS) RECOVERED

A team of Special Cell/SWR, led by Insps. Manender Singh, Neeraj Kumar and Sundeep Yadav, under the supervision of ACP Sh. Sanjay Dutt, has busted an inter-state firearms supply syndicate and apprehended two key members of the syndicate, namely Sunny Sharma (Age-30 Years) S/o Sh. Dharambir Sharma R/o Village Nangal Kheri, Panipat, Haryana and Devinder Chhabra (Age- 28 )S/o Late Sh. Angad Chhabra R/o Village Nelo Kheri, Karnal, Haryana.

From the possession of accused persons Three high-quality semi-automatic pistols of 7.65 (32) bore and Seven single-shot pistols (desi katte), have been recovered from possession of the accused persons.

Earlier the team of Special-Cell/SWR has busted several illegal firearms syndicates. The inputs received about another inter-state gun-runner syndicate were further developed.

On 17/12/2024, a tip-off was received that an interstate illegal firearms supplier, will be coming near Singhu Border to supply a consignment of illegal arms to their associates. A trap was laid by the team led by Inspr. Manender Singh, Sundeep Yadav, Neeraj Kumar comprising of SI Vishal, ASI Rajesh Rana, ASI Pradeep, HC Deepak, HC Sumit, HC Atul , HC Dinesh, HC Amit, HC Rakesh, HC Sanjay, HC Ravinder , HC Sikandar, near Sydney Grand Hotel, Singhu Border. On 17/12/2024, in the evening hours, the above said gun-runners Sunny Sharma and Devinder Chhabra were apprehended at near Sydney Grand Hotel, Singhu Border, Delhi .

Mr. Pranav Tayal, IPS, DCP, Special Cell, said, from the possession of above said Sunny Sharma, total five firearms (two semi-automatic high quality pistols and three single-shot pistols) were recovered and from the possession of accused Devinder Chhabra, total five fire arms (one semi-automatic high quality pistol and four single-shot pistols) were recovered. The recovered firearms were taken into police possession and the present case FIR no. 556/2024, dated 17/12/2024, u/s 25/25(8) Arms Act was registered at PS Special-Cell and further investigation was taken up.

RECOVERY:   Three semi-automatic high quality pistols of .32 bore. Seven single shot pistols (Desi katte).

KNOW THE ACCUSED:

Accused Sunny Sharma- Has studied upto class 12th. He is married and has one son. He was engaged in small scale farming. For earning quick money, he got in the company of criminal elements. He also started consuming drugs. In the year 2019, he along with his associate has killed one person namely Vikas. In that case, he was convicted for life imprisonment. Presently, he is on bail from Punjab & Haryana High Court. After coming out on bail, he indulged in the arm supplying.

Previous involvements: Case FIR no 300/19 u/s 302/34 IPC PS-Chandani Bagh, Panipat, On 03/12/2020, he shot one Yogesh, whose hand was injured (involvement being verified) In June 2022, arrested by Model Town Police u/s 25 Arms Act (involvement being verified).

Accused Devinder Chhabra- Has studied upto class 10th. He used to work as helper on trucks. During that period, he became drug addict. In the year 2016, he along with his friends has killed one person Sonu. In that case, he has been convicted for life imprisonment. Presently, he is on bail from Punjab & Haryana High Court. To earn quick money, he started supplying illegal firearms to various criminals and gangster at the behest of his associate.
