DR MANMOHAN SINGH HAD HIGH REVERENCE FOR SPIRITUAL LEADERS

THIS WRITER FORTUNATELY VISITED CHAKWAL DISTRICT SIX TIMES WHERE DR MANMOHAN SINGH WAS BORN IN GAH VILLAGE. EACH TIME KATASRAJ DHAM YATRIS REMEMBERED THE GREAT SON OF INDIA WHILE TAKING MAHASHIVRATRI BATH IN THE AMAR KUND. LOCALS ALSO REMEMBER HIM WHENEVER WE TALK ABOUT DR MANMOHAN SINGH.

Mahant Swami Ji Maharaj, in a letter from Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania, to Dr Manmohan Singh’s family recalls the reverence that the former Prime Minister had for spiritual leaders.

Starting his letter with “Namaste. Sat Shri Akal. Jai Swaminarayan” The BAPS chief says Dr Manmohan Singh was a distinguished economist, his invaluable contributions to India’s economic prosperity will forever remain etched in the nation’s memory.

On November 6, 2005, when Pramukh Swami Ji Maharaj inaugurated Akshardham in Delhi, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was present along with President Abdul Kalam and Lal Krishan Advani. None can forget his gentle and humble nature and his cherished bond with Pramukh Swami ji Maharaj, the letter from Mahant Swami Ji Maharaj said.

Luckily, this writer was also present at the events that Swami ji has recalled in his letter. In 2003, when Pramukh Swami Ji Maharaj fulfilled the wish of his Guru Yogi Ji Maharaj by consecrating BAPS Mandir at Delhi, Dr Manmohan Singh was the distinguished guest. He expressed profound respect and praised Swamishri for enriching Delhi with such a remarkable gift that would uplift countless souls.

This writer fortunately visited Chakwal district six times where Dr Manmohan Singh was born in Gah village. Each time Katasraj Dham yatris remembered the great son of India while taking Mahashivratri bath in the Amar Kund. Locals also remember him whenever we talk about Dr Manmohan Singh.
