INDIA'S MILITARY SELF-RELIANCE IN DEFENCE MANUFACTURING AT DISPLAY

Western Command honoured its gallant and distinguished soldiers at an impressive Investiture Ceremony held over two days at Manekshaw Centre and Cariappa Parade Ground Delhi Cantonment. On this occasion, the awardees were felicitated for their exceptional bravery, commendable devotion to duty and distinguished service to the Nation.
Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command felicitated 53 distinguished awardees on 10th January,2025 at a glittering ceremony held at Manekshaw Auditorium. He also presented the coveted Western Command Banner for exceptional performance in Professional activities, Sports and Adventure to the Golden Arrow Division.
The Army Commander later interacted with the awardees and families. The General Officer exhorted all ranks to continue their pursuit for professional excellence and remain committed to the security of the Nation.
The second phase of the Investiture Ceremony was held on Saturday at the hallowed Cariappa Parade Ground. The award ceremony was preceded by an impressive parade consisting of 06 marching contingents, 08 mechanised contingents and 61 CAVALARY, the only mounted Cavalry regiment in the world. On the occasion, the Army Commander conferred medals for gallantry to 14 awardees for acts of bravery alongside 27 unit citations to Army personnel and units of the Western Command.

The spectacular Parade also showcased the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative with a display of indigenously produced weapons & equipment. On display were PINAKA Multi Launcher Rocket system, NAG Missile system, SARVATRA Bridging Equipment, AKASH Missile Systems, SWATHI Weapon Locating RADAR and numerous other indigenously produced military equipment. The Parade evoked both admiration and awe from the audience and reaffirmed the Nation's faith in the might and capability of our Army and our defence manufacturing industry. A large number of senior officers, distinguished dignitaries and proud families of the award winners attended the events.
