RASHTRIYA KALA MANDIR REMEMBERS GHAZAL KING JAGJIT ON 84TH ANNIVERSARY

On ghazal king Jagjit Singh’s 84th birth anniversary, hundreds of fans participated in a musical program organised by Rashtriya Kala Mandir at Sriganganagar where the ghazal maestro was born.

At Chaudhary Ramjas Kala Sadan, Chief Guest Sanjeev Lohia, Satya Prakash Khemka and President of Rashtriya Kala Mandir Virendra Baid lit the traditional lamp before Jagjit’s portrait.

Artist Sunil Bhardwaj, music teacher in Navodaya Vidyalaya Suratgarh, Sanwar Khan, music teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya Hanumangarh and Baldev Gill music teacher in Guru Nanak Khalsa College Sriganganagar mesmerized the gathering by presenting Jagjit’s popular Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi songs and ghazals.

Artist Sunil Bhardwaj, music teacher in Navodaya Vidyalaya Suratgarh, Sanwar Khan, music teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya Hanumangarh and Baldev Gill music teacher in Guru Nanak Khalsa College Sriganganagar mesmerized the gathering by presenting Jagjit’s popular Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi songs and ghazals.

Sunil Maurya of All Musical Band played on tabla, Pankaj Pahwa Keyboard, Manthan Guitar and Tinku Gill on the Octopod.

Rakesh Monga said that Jagjit Singh had started his journey as an artist under the cooperation and aegis of the Rashtriya Kala Mandir and then touched the heights of the sky. A memorial is to be developed as a tribute to him in his home town soon.
