Akhilesh Bansal/Halwara (Ludhiana)

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjiv Arora and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Wednesday held a meeting with the senior officials of Indian Air Force (IAF) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) and assessed the on-going last mile connectivity works, at Air Force Station and Civil Terminal.

ADCs Amarjit Bains, Kulpreet Singh, GLADA ACA Vineet Kumar, SDM Raikot Simardeep Singh and other officials from the PWD, as well as representatives from contractual companies were also present in the meeting.

They minutely reviewed the progress of the runaway, casting works, signages besides other key issues. They urged PWD officials and contractual companies' representatives to expedite the completion of these works and emphasized the need for effective coordination with all relevant officials, instructing them to address any missing issues promptly.

(SUBHEAD)Meanwhile, MP stated that he will hold discussions with Air India to open its office at terminal building as 100-percent civil works at the terminal site at the Halwara Airport have been completed. A code has already been issued to Halwara Airport.

Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officials to devise a detailed Soild Waste Management plan to remove all debris around the airport area within a few days, as such locations could attract birds.

Both MP Sanjiv Arora and DC Jitendra Jorwal expressed hope that the airport will serve as an economic catalyst, driving growth in industry, exports, employment, real estate, and more.
