HEROIN DROPPED FROM DRONE SEIZED NEAR IB IN SRIGANGANAGAR

A Border Security Force (BSF) team found a suspicious packet lying in a field near the India-Pakistan International Border in Sri Karanpur sector, Sriganganagar, in which about 810 grams of heroin was found.

According to BSF, as soon as Company Commander Inspector Ramesh Kumar of Border Outpost Kohli area received information about a suspicious packet lying in Chak 13-SB, he along with a team reached there and took possession of the packet. During the investigation, about 810 grams of heroin was found in the packet. Officials say that the packet was dropped in the field by Pakistan through a drone. Heroin and other drugs worth more than Rs 200 crore have been seized in the Srikaranpur area in the last six months. The biggest consignment among these was 12 kg of heroin, the value of which was said to be around Rs 60 crore. In that case, four youths from Punjab were also arrested, who had come to collect the consignment.

BSF says that Pakistani smugglers are continuously dropping small packets using drones, so that the risk of getting caught is less. Surveillance and vigilance has been increased in the border area under the leadership of Kamal Singh Rathore, Commandant of 118th Corps of BSF.

BSF teams are patrolling day and night to stop illegal activities including drug smuggling. According to officials, the method of dropping packets in the fields near the border has become a new pattern for smugglers and farmers have been alerted.
