BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh welcomed the decision of seven Members of Parliament, including senior AAP leaders Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, calling it a historic day for Punjab politics. He said the development has raised serious questions over Arvind Kejriwal’s politics of lies, deceit and betrayal.
Chugh said the very leaders whom Arvind Kejriwal had projected as the faces of change before the people of Punjab and the country are now distancing themselves from AAP after witnessing its true reality — a party driven by lies, mafia networks, extortion and institutionalised corruption. He said this clearly reflects deep frustration and growing resentment within the party over Kejriwal’s functioning.
Chugh said the people of Punjab had already become disillusioned with the AAP government due to poor governance, rising corruption, mafia rule, deteriorating law and order, and broken promises. He said every section of society feels cheated, as promises made to farmers, youth, industrialists, traders and women have turned out to be nothing more than hollow slogans and false assurances.
Chugh said it is now evident that not just the people of Punjab, but even AAP’s own founding leaders and MPs have realised that the party has ceased to be a platform for public service and has instead become a vehicle for fulfilling the personal ambitions of a select few. That is why people are rapidly distancing themselves from the party.
Chugh said the Aam Aadmi Party has completely drifted away from its founding principles. The party that was created in the name of eliminating corruption has now itself fallen into the hands of corrupt and compromise-driven individuals. He said people who believe in nationalism and refuse to compromise on principles are leaving the party because they do not want to be complicit in its wrongdoings.
He added that under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP continues to move forward with the politics of development, good governance and nation-first priorities. Welcoming all the leaders into the BJP fold, he said every person committed to nation-building is welcome in the party.
Chugh said this development sends a clear message to Arvind Kejriwal and his entire ecosystem built on politics of loot that Punjab will no longer accept politics based on illusion, lies and betrayal. He said the people of Punjab now want stability, development, good governance and trustworthy leadership, and BJP is emerging as the strongest alternative to fulfil those aspirations.
