RS 34 CRORE APPROVED TO IMPROVE SEWERAGE SYSTEM IN ABOHAR

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

In a significant meeting with officials, Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu held a detailed discussion on key urban development issues.

The DC said that Rs 34 crore has been sanctioned to rectify Abohar’s dilapidated sewerage system. This funding will be utilized to lay a rising main pipeline leading to the main sewer outfall, which will not only alleviate problems for farmers but also ensure the smooth functioning of the city’s sewerage network.

The demand for electricity connections in the Abha Square area has been pending for a long time. In this regard, the PSPCL officials have been instructed to issue the No Objection Certificate (NOC) promptly, providing relief to shopkeepers and local residents.

The meeting addressed the issue of a damaged sewerage pipeline passing beneath the railway crossing on Sri Ganganagar Road. The DC spoke with the Railway DRM, and hoped the work will commence as soon as approval is granted.

Officials reported that super suction machines are currently operational in the Anand Nagri, Nanak Nagri, and Malout Road areas. Once work is completed there, these machines will be deployed in other localities to address and resolve issues like sewage blockages. The meeting also discussed complaints regarding road excavation during the laying of gas pipelines. Officials issued a stern warning to the concerned contractors stating that if roads are left in a damaged condition after pipeline installation, legal action will be initiated and the cost of road repairs will be recovered from them.
