In coordination with central agency, a team of the Operation Cell of Chandigarh Police succeeded in dismantling a module of Babbar Khalsa International. As per the guidance of Shri Sagarpreet Hooda, DGP Chandigarh, Shri Pushpendra, IG Chandigarh, and under the close supervision of Sh. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, DIG, UT Chandigarh and Mr. AnuragDaru, IPS, SP Operations, UT Chandigarh, a team of operations cell, Chandigarh police led by Sh. Ranjodh Singh, DSP Operationsand Insp Satvinder Singh a major success was achieved in busting a module of Babbar Khalsa International.Three operativeswere apprehended, along with approx6 kg Gelatin stick explosives,a detonator, power source, remotely operated system and 01 pistol, along with one magazine and 05 live cartridges, thereby avertinga major terror threat. All the three accused have been remanded to police custody for 5 days for further interrogation.
Brief introduction: On dated 22.08.2026, secret information was received that two young persons, namely Lovepreet Singh and Jashanpreet Singh, residents of Tarn Taran, Punjab, aged about 19–21 years, were in contact with persons involved in anti-national/terrorist activities operating from abroad and were carrying a substantial quantity of explosive substances. They were roaming in the Sector 42/43 area with the intention of causing an explosion by planting an IED at a crowded place, thereby causing loss of life and property.
Accordingly, a case, FIR No. 143 dated 22.08.2026, U/S 4(b), 5, Explosive Substances Act, 1908, PS 36, UT CHD, was registered, and all teams were kept on alert, with thorough checking initiated to search for the accused persons. Information and intelligence were collected through various means, i.e., human intelligence and technical support.
During the course of the investigation, On 23.08.2026, three accused, namely Lovepreet Singh, Jashanpreet Singh @ Jashandeep, and Prabhpreet Singh,were arrested, and approx.. 6 kg of gelatin stick explosives, along with a detonator, power source, remotely operated system, and 01 pistol, along with one magazine and 05 live cartridges, were recovered from their possession.Investigation: During the investigation, it was revealed that three accused, namely Lovepreet Singh, Jashanpreet Singh @ Jashandeep, and Prabhpreet Singh,were operating as ground-level operatives of a BKI(Babbar Khalsa International) module and were acting under the directions of foreign-based handlers. The investigation established that the accused had been groomed and assigned specific roles for carrying out a terror-related attack in Chandigarh.The accused were tasked with maintaining contact with the handlers, receiving and moving the explosive material, arranging the required components, identifying a suitable target/locationand executing the planned IED(Improvised Explosive Device) attack. Their coordinated activities were aimed at creating terror and causing loss of life and property.
Profile of Accused: Lovepreet SinghS/o Bittu Singh R/o village Sarhali, District Tarn Taran,Punjab. Age 19 years. He was living in his village, Sarhali, Punjab, and working as a painter. He acted as the primary connector between the member of BKI (Babbar Khalsa International) and his associates.Educational qualification – Illiterate.
Modus Operandi: Lovepreet Singh established contact with the BKI handler Ashu and Satta, operating from abroad, through social media/communication platforms. He acted as the primary ground-level link between the handler and the other associates, received instructions regarding the planned attack and coordinated the movement and handling of the explosive material.Recovery- Approx. 6 kg of gelatin stick explosives.
Previous History- 01 more case(FIR 70 dated 07.06.2025 U/s 21 NDPS Act PS- Sarhali, Tarn Taran, Punjab) of NDPS Act already exists against him. He transported and placed illegal substances, such as weapons and drugs, several times on the instruction of his handlers.
Jashanpreet Singh@ Jashandeep S/o Satnar Singh, R/o Village Deobath, District TarnTaran, Punjab. Age 21 Years. He was living in his village: Deobath, Punjab, and working as a painter. Educational qualification – 10th pass.
ModusOperandi: Jashanpreet Singh came into contact with the BKI handlers through co-accused Lovepreet Singh, who introduced and connected him with the handlers. Thereafter, he remained in communication with the handlers and received instructions regarding the movement, handling and execution of the assigned terror-related task.

Prabhpreet Singh@Prabh S/o Sukhchain Singh, R/o Vill. Tarsikka, District Amritsar, Punjab. Age 19 Years. He was living in his village: Tarsikka, Punjab, and working as a helper at an Indian Gas agency in Tarsikka. He studied upto 11th pass.
Modus Operandi: Prabhpreet Singh remained in contact with BKI handler Gurlal and was involved in receiving and acting upon instructions relating to the planned attack. He provided operational support to the other accused Recovery-01 pistol, along with one magazine and 05 live cartridges.
Further investigation in the case is being carried by Operations Cell, Chandigarh Police.
