RIDDHI-SIDDHI COLONY RESIDENTS FACE POWER OUTAGE; THREATEN TO BLOCK HIGHWAY

Face2News/Abohar

Residents of Riddhi-Siddhi Colony, frustrated by severe power outage, have threatened to block Abohar-Sriganganagar highway if their demands are not resolved.

Residents state that the distribution box for the dedicated ‘hot line’—which previously carried the colony’s power load—has been non-functional for the past four months. Consequently, the entire colony is experiencing disrupted power supply.

There is an urgent need to install three new transformers for the Phase-2 area. Currently, this zone relies on the Phase-1 transformer, leading to persistent issues of blown fuses on a daily basis due to overloading.

Residents alleged that no employee from the PSPCL arrived on time to carry out repairs, forcing the public to endure hours of darkness.

The streetlights along Sriganganagar Road have also remained non-functional for a prolonged period, posing risks regarding road safety and security during the night.

They said, “Our repeated pleas are falling on deaf ears. If the hot line is not restored, new transformers are not installed, and the streetlights are not repaired within the next seven days, we will be compelled to take to the streets and stage a complete blockade of Sriganganagar Road.”
