A police spokesperson stated that a complaint was received at Baluganj Police Station alleging that Bains had uploaded a video on his Facebook account containing material capable of promoting hostility between different religious communities. The complainant expressed concern that the widespread circulation of the content could adversely affect law and order and communal harmony.

During the preliminary investigation and digital analysis, police found that the accused had allegedly been regularly sharing similar content on his social media platforms.
