Three individuals were assaulted in the Abohar area by suspected drug addicts for interfering in their activities.
A resident of village Modikheda said he had to pay a heavy price for opposing the drug-peddling activities of some local youths. They intercepted him on the road, attacked with sharp-edged weapons, and left him injured. With the help of locals, his family members admitted him to the Government Hospital in Abohar.
Sadhu Ram, victim, said that the sons of an influential village resident are involved in drug peddling. He had previously complained about this to the police, a grievance that led the youths to harbour a grudge against him. He recounted that last night, while he was on his way to a local mechanic to collect his wages, the youths surrounded him, attacked with sharp-edged weapons, left him bloodied, and fled. Passers-by spotted him lying on the road and informed his family. The Bazidpur Bhoma police have been notified of the incident.
In a separate incident, two brothers in Thakar Abadi were left bloodied after being attacked with sharp-edged weapons by youths from their own locality; their family members have admitted them to the Government Hospital for treatment.
Rahul and Parul, victims, stated that two youths—allegedly known for drug abuse—were attempting to snatch a mobile phone from a minor boy named Prince. When the victims objected, the youths initially left the scene. However, it is alleged that shortly thereafter, the both returned with 4-5 accomplices armed with sharp-edged weapons and launched a fierce attack, injuring them. When the victims raised an alarm and people gathered, the attackers fled. Subsequently, their family members admitted them to the hospital.
City-2 police said that they have received the Medico-Legal Report (MLR) from the hospital; they will record the statements of the injured, identify the attackers, and take strict action against them.
