WOMAN ARRESTED FOR HONEY TRAP ON PRETEXT OF TEACHING YOGA, EXTORTED ₹2.71 LAKH BY THREATENING TO LEAK OBSCENE VIDEO

Face2News/Panchkula

Police have busted a case of blackmail and extortion by arresting a woman yoga instructor. The accused was allegedly running a honey trap racket under the guise of operating a yoga center in Panchkula. She recorded an objectionable video of a युवक and later threatened to make it viral.

According to the complaint filed by the Panchkula-based victim, he used to attend a yoga center in Sector-21 in 2024, which was run by the accused woman. After some time, he stopped attending the classes. Recently, the woman contacted him seeking financial help. On humanitarian grounds, the victim transferred ₹30,000 to her online.

Later, the accused allegedly called him to meet and attempted inappropriate behavior. During this meeting, she secretly recorded a video of him. She then began blackmailing him, threatening to release the video and inform his family.

Under pressure, the victim paid a total of ₹2.71 lakh to the accused in multiple installments. When she demanded an additional ₹6 lakh, the victim finally approached the police.

DCP Panchkula Srishti Gupta stated that the investigation revealed the accused had deliberately trapped the victim in a honey trap and extorted money by threatening to leak the video.

A case was registered on April 25 under Section 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector-20 Police Station. Acting on the complaint, a police team led by Chowki Incharge Didar Singh and ASI Ravinder Singh arrested the accused from her residence in Punjab on April 27, with the assistance of women police personnel. Two mobile phones, including an iPhone 17 and a OnePlus device, were recovered from her possession.

So far, no other complaints have been reported against the accused, but police are investigating whether more victims were targeted. The accused woman has been sent to judicial custody.
