YOUTH AKALI DAL CHIEF JHINJER HONOURED IN NEW ZEALAND FOR ‘MERI DASTAR MERI SHAAN’ CAMPAIGN

Face2News/Auckland (New Zealand)

Youth Akali Dal president Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer was accorded a warm and distinguished felicitation at the historic Gurdwara Kalgidhar Sahib (Takanini), Auckland, New Zealand, in recognition of his campaign ‘Meri Dastar Meri Shaan’ — a movement dedicated to promoting pride, identity, and reverence for the Sikh turban among the youth worldwide.

The honour was conferred upon Jhinjer by the Gurdwara’s management committee alongside Supreme Sikh Society president Kartar Singh, senior leader Daljit, and Nayab Singh, in a ceremony that drew members of the local Sikh diaspora and community representatives from across the Auckland region.

During his visit, Jhinjer also had the privilege of meeting New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Takanini Member of Parliament Rima Nakhle, both of whom commended him for his selfless community service and dedicated efforts towards youth empowerment.

“Meri Dastar Meri Shaan has resonated far beyond Punjab — it carries a message of faith, dignity, and Sikh identity that speaks to every corner of the globe,” Jhinjer said while addressing the gathering.

During his visit to Auckland, Jhinjer also held a significant meeting with New Zealand Sikh Supreme Society senior president Daljit Singh Virk. The meeting was aimed at strengthening ties between the Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab and the thriving diaspora in New Zealand, and discussions centred on issues of community welfare, cultural preservation, and the global Sikh identity movement.
