73RD INDIA INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED IN INDIANAPOLIS

INDIANAPOLIS (BALBIR SINGH) 

A large number of Indian Americans assembled at the Monument Circle, Downtown, Indianapolis to take part in the
celebrations organized by India Association of Indianapolis on Sunday.

Chief guest of the function Indianapolis Mayor Joy Hogsett was given a tumultuous by the organizing committee. Owner of Sun Companies Bharat Patel, IAI chairman Ramu Chinthala, IAI president Shanti Karthik, IAI vice-president Ravi Sajja, Rajan Arora, Abhinav Singh, Shanti Karthik, Lakshya Arora, Prathibha Ravindra, Sivakumar Vavilala, Poonam Singh, Prachi B Chatterjee, Krishnamaneni, Rimple Bahl Patwardhan and Smitha Thomas were among those who received the chief guest.

Mayor Joe Hogsett wished "Happy India Day." "I love celebrating this day. I love the parade, I love the energy. We come together today to celebrate who we are and what we are. We are one city. Indianapolis City welcomes every one. It is a city that is more international, more open.... more cosmopolitan.. and that is why you are here. We want to enjoy the city that celebrates all cultures. ... It is so wonderful at this parade on this day. It is so appropriate for them that we invest today to provide a better future. .. We come together."
 
 

 
Mayor Joy Hogsett not only participated in the India Parade, he also interacted with the Indian American community members and provided an opportunity for photos with the Indian American community members.

Speaking on the occasion IAI president Ramu Chinthala said "India is now one country and one constitution. Bharat Maata ki Jai." During the parade Bharat Maata Ki Jai and Vande Matram were chanted.

Cultural performances, Indian cuisine and live music enriched the celebrations. The cultural programme Chorecographed by Jenny Bhupatkar of Bollywood Beats introduced Little Wonders -- Debut Dancers and followed by Chote Ustad. Swarang Dance Academy presented Dazzling Trio of Prateet Kaur, Ruheen Sekhon and Svaya Naik.
Desi Fusion, Little Patriots of Indianapolis , Desi Girls, Bollywood Fusion, Dance on a Patriotic Music, Devotional songs, Bollywood Dance on Radha Krishan Song, Bollywood dance by Marissa McCloud, Sahaja Meditation, coordinated by NV Rau.

The programme concluded with Marching Band of Sangh Hindu Swayamsevak Sang. Rimple Patwardhan and Anjali Pillai performed the duties of the Master of Ceremonies.
