Punjab frontier Ftr HQrs BSF Punjab organized the "BSF Marathon - 2022" to celebrate "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" with the theme "Dillan Di Daud Seema Prahari De Naal" “Hand in Hand with Border Population” “दिलो की िौड़ सीमा प्रहरी के साथ” at JCP Attari, Amritsar sector on Saturday.
Army, CAPF, Police personnel alongwith civilian population above 18 years (men & women) took part during the marathon in three categories, i.e. Full Marathon (42 Kms), Half Marathon (21 Kms) and 10 Kms run. This Marathon is recognized by the Athletics Federation of India.
The “BSF Marathon - 2022" Full Marathon was flagged off from Golden Gate, Amritsar by Shri P V Ramasastry, IPS, ADG (WC) BSF Chandigarh in presence of Ms Sonali Mishra, IPS, ADG BSF FHQ New Delhi and Shri Asif Jalal, IPS, IG BSF Punjab Frontier at 0500 hrs, Half Marathon from War Memorial, India Gate at 0620 hrs by Shri P V Rama Shastry, IPS, ADG (WC) BSF Chandigarh in presence of Shri Asif Jalal, IPS, IG BSF Punjab Frontier and 10 Km run from Village - Lahori Mal, Attari Road at 0630 hrs by Ms Sonali Mishra, IPS, ADG BSF FHQ New Delhi with all runs culminating at JCP Attari.
Shri P V Ramasastry, IPS, ADG (WC) BSF Chandigarh, Shri Suniel Shetty, Ms Sonali Mishra, IPS, ADG BSF FHQ New Delhi and Shri Asif Jalal, IPS, IG BSF Punjab Frontier welcomed the participants at the finishing point.
Shri P V Ramasastry, IPS, ADG (WC) BSF Chandigarh, Shri Suniel Shetty, Ms Sonali Mishra, IPS, ADG BSF FHQ New Delhi and Shri Asif Jalal, IPS, IG BSF presented the prizes, Medals and Certificates to the Winners and participants of the "BSF Marathon - 2022".
Prof Suman Sharma, Arjun Awardee (basketball), Sh P S Bhandal, DCP Law and order (Arjun awardee), Sh Subhash Verma, Arjun Awardee, Sh Baljit Singh, Arjun awardee and Sh Raj Singh, Dronacharya awardee were present at JCP Attari during prize distribution. Out of 2610 registrations for the marathon, 2263 participated in the event in different categories, i.e. Full marathon - 252 Nos, for half marathon - 504 Nos and for 10 Kms run - 1507 Nos. A cultural performance was also presented at JCP Attari. The ADG (WC) BSF appreciated the efforts made by IG, PB FTR, DIG Amritsar and all Officers and Jawans of Punjab Frontier, who made this Marathon a success and reiterated to conduct such marathon on yearly basis. ADG (WC) BSF emphasized the importance of physical fitness in the daily routine for a healthy mind. ADG (WC) BSF further praised the BSF personnel for their active participation in this Marathon. He also thanked the representatives of Hero Moto Corp, Mankind Pharma, Sonalika, PNB, Indian Oil, Raymond, Indian bank, Studio 69 and other sponsors of the events who had been a great support in making this Marathon a huge success.

The BSF “Marathon - 2022" was conducted to celebrate 75 years of Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) and was aimed to promote the spirit of adventure and enterprise among the population particularly youths from bordering areas. This marathon has inspired the youth of border area and promoted spirit of national integration and patriotism amongst public. It created awareness among public towards the task of Border Management performed by BSF in a challenging environment.
