Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal, who also holds the charge of MC Commissioner,today visited Abohar Municipal Corporation today.
She interacted with the officers to know the architectural condition of the Corporation and also discussed various issues with Mayor Vimal Thatai. SDM Akash Bansal was also present.
SE Sandeep Gupta told the Commissioner that Municipal Corporation has a liability of about Rs 50 crore while the MC has to collect about Rs 6 crore as house and property tax. Dr. Duggal instructed the officials that arrears of house tax and property tax should be recovered from the defaulters, if they do not pay, then notices should be sent to them so that in case of non-payment, their property may be sealed or other steps are taken.Dr Duggal said that she will come to the MC for two days a week and look after the work here.Mayor Vimal Thatai said that many streets of the city which had emerged as commercial markets, but due to the government not declaring that area as commercial, the municipal corporation is facing losses. In this regard, a proposal was sent to the govt about 7 months ago and MLA Sandeep Jakhar was also pursuing the same, if the approval is granted, then the MC income will have a big boost.

Dr. Duggal said that the development work that was going on will be completed on priority basis. The payment dues of the retired employees, if there is any, will also be made. She urged the people to pay the dues of the MC, so thatongoing development work could be completed and the salaries of the MC staff could also be paid on time.
