30 AMERICA-BORN YOUTHS INITIATED AS SWAMIS

At the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey, a historic Diksha Diwas ceremony took place where 30 America-born youths were initiated as Hindu Swamis by Mahant Swami ji Maharaj.

Mahant Swami Maharaj blessed them by reiterating that “it was in your mind to serve God and society, otherwise you would not be sitting here today. There is much work to be done from here on. May you be successful on this spiritual path of attaining God through your service.”

Akshardham hosted a cultural program titled, "Celebrating Values and Non-Violence" to commemorate the International Day of Non-Violence. The day honours the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi, a leader who championed non-violent resistance in the successful efforts for India's independence. The same values of non- violence and peace are intrinsic to Hindu shastras, the sacred scriptures guiding the non-violent core of the Hindu faith.

Viveksagar Swami spoke of the vital role sadhus play in society.Anandswarup Swami recalled his own personal experiences in explaining how the guru’s unconditional and unparalleled love is what has drawn over one thousand youth into the sadhu-fold over the decades.
