The message of the Anti-drug seminar organised at Gopichand Arya Mahila College here was a continuation of the commitment of the Jakhar Trust campaign “Nashe se door, khelon ki aur”.

Meera took the initiative to deliver the message through the arts by staging the play “Sarhdaan hor vi ne” and organising a seminar chaired by Gurbachan Singh Sran.

Major General Yogi Sheoran, GOC of 7 Infantry Division, said that government agencies, educational institutions and social workers will have to make collective efforts regularly to save youth from drugs.

Addressing the anti-drug seminar, the GOC said that people need to be made aware at the village and locality level to be alert about suspicious persons involved in drug trade or consumption. Besides alerting the concerned authorities, activists should also motivate the youth to stay away from evil.

The Mayor of Abohar Vimal Thatai, a passionate champion of the youth, appreciated the efforts of the Jakhar Trust and requested that such initiatives be amplified within the community. Meera gave a voice to her gender and fellow students and emphasised the ability of each and every individual’s place in society to make a difference with kindness, concern and empathy for drug users.

Dr. Mahesh Kumar enlightened the audience about his efforts in the field and gave them tips about treating the affected with empathy instead of ignorance.
