In a joint operation with the BSF, the CIA staff of Fazilka district police have recovered 8 packets, suspected to be heroin, in a search operation.
Under the command of DSP Achhru Ram, a team led by Inspector Amarinder Singh in-charge CIA Staff Fazilka, that was conducting a search operation, starting from village Jodha Bhaini, across Lachman Minor which was empty, found a kit bag lying in the grass. Small rings were attached with tape, out of which four packets were recovered from each of the kit bags, totaling 8 packets which were covered with wax envelopes, of which the total weight of recovered heroin was 4.177 kg.
A case under Sections 23/61/85 of the NDPS Act was registered at Sadar Jalalabad police station. Investigation of the case is ongoing and intelligence sources are on the lookout for the smugglers who arranged the consignment of heroin.
Earlier the BSF had seized 2 kg heroin from a farmhouse in the same village.
