The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a conman impersonating himself as CBI official for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. One lakh from the Complainant.
A case was registered on complaint against a conman impersonating himself as official of CBI at Nagpur & unknown others. It was alleged that the accused impersonating himself as PA to DIG, CBI, approached a Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Central Railway, Nagpur & claimed that there are some complaints pending against him in CBI and of which, he (conman) can take care of. It was further alleged the accused demanded undue advantage of Rs. 20,00,000/- from the Complainant for showing favour to him.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting the part payment of bribe of Rs. 1,00,000/- from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused, which led to recovery of incriminating documents.
The arrested accused was produced today before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nagpur and remanded to CBI custody till 06.11.2023.
