VALEDICTORY CERMONY OF 7 DAYS OF NSS CAMP THEMED, “YOUTH DEVELOPING SKILL INDIA” HELD

The Valedictory Ceremony of the Seven-Day Special NSS Camp, themed “Youth Developing Skill India,” was held with great enthusiasm and pride on 9 January 2026 at the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration (GCCBA), Sector-50, Chandigarh. The ceremony marked the successful culmination of a week-long journey of learning, service, cultural expression, and skill development, reflecting the true spirit of the National Service Scheme.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer, NSS, whose presence added prestige and inspiration to the event. He was warmly welcomed by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal, along with NSS Programme Officers Dr. Yogesh and Ms. Aanchal Malik and the NSS Advisor, through the presentation of a sapling symbolizing growth, sustainability, and social responsibility. The programme began with the lighting of the holy lamp, signifying purity, knowledge, and enlightenment.

A major attraction of the ceremony was the cultural and skill-based performances presented by the NSS volunteers. These included a Yoga demonstration featuring Surya Namaskar, self-defence demonstrations highlighting essential techniques against eve-teasing and bullying, and a Nukkad Natak focusing on the critical issue of unemployment. The cultural segment was further enriched by vibrant folk dances of Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Punjab (Bhangra), along with energetic performances on popular Bollywood songs, showcasing the creativity and confidence of the volunteers. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Vinayak, President, NSS Boys Unit.

(SUBHEAD)The seven-day NSS Camp, organized from 3 January to 9 January 2026, involved 100 NSS volunteers, including 50 boys and 50 girls, who actively participated in a wide range of activities. The comprehensive camp report was presented by Ms. Yashil, NSS Volunteer, highlighting the extensive and impactful initiatives undertaken during the camp.

The camp commenced with the spiritual blessings of the Sukhmani Sahib Path and featured a series of expert sessions aimed at holistic development. Key sessions included Health and Nutrition by Mr. Hridesh; Startup: A New Role and Passion by Dr. Shabana Bhateja; Personality and Life as a Perspective by Dr. Jayara; Gender Sensitization by Dr. Jyoti Seth; Defence Life as an Opportunity by Brig. Deependra Manrai (Retd.); Personality Development by Mr. Manish; and Mental Health – A Need by Dr. Vipendra Rajput and Dr. Vandana Jain from PGIMER.

Practical exposure was provided through Yoga training, Self-Defence sessions, Cyber Awareness programmes, Disaster Management training by NDRF, First Aid, Traffic Awareness, and Voter Awareness and an Electoral Awareness Conclave conducted by the College ELC. In his address, Dr. Nemi Chand congratulated the college for the successful conduct of the camp and motivated students to contribute towards Viksit Bharat @2047. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem followed by a sumptuous lunch, leaving lasting memories of service and learning.
