YOUNG LEADERS NEED TO INCULCATE QUALITIES OF DEBATE AND DISCUSSION : SANDHAWALIA

St. John's All India Debate (SJAID ) was inaugurated by Hon'ble Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia of Punjab & Haryana High Court at St. John's High School on Thursday.

In his inaugural speech, Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia said that young leaders today need to inculcate qualities of debate and discussion which will help the youngsters navigate their way in the world and help to make it more just.

St. John's All India Debate started four years ago thanks to Dr Sandeep Goyal, an alumnus of St. John's High School is the patron of this event. Mrs, Carol Goyal, the daughter of Dr. Sandeep Goyal was the Guest of Honour.

12 teams from notable schools from all over India are participating.

The first round was Turncoat debating where participants argued on both stances with topics from socio-economic genre. The debate in the second round was even more interesting as the propositions were devised by participants themselves on the basis of the storyboard given to them.

The judges were Ms. Ravinder Kaur (Professor PU), Dr. Kanwalpreet Kaur (Asst. Professor DAV), Dr. Navjot Kaur (Principal, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, Chandigarh) and Dr. Simrita Singh (Principal NIIFT Jalandhar.

Tomorrow will see even more energetic debating leading to the winning team taking home a mega cash prize of Rs.1 lakh.
