CHANDIGARH VIGILANCE CAUGHT RED HANDED DRIVER OF STA ACCEPTING BRIBE OF RS. 10 K

On a complaint regarding demand of money by one Driver of State Transport Authority, Sector-18, Chandigarh was caught red handed by the Vigilance Team, UT, Chandigarh while taking bribe of Rs 10000/ on Monday for the registration of BS-IV vehicle in back date as presently BS-IV vehicles are not permitted for registration.

The alleged deal for registration was fixed in Rs.70,000/- out of which Rs. 40,000/- were already paid. The said official demanded balance Rs. 30,000/- for which it was agreed to pay Rs. 10,000/- today. Based on this information, a trap was laid by the Vigilance Cell of Chandigarh Administration. Further, a case FIR u/s 7, 8, 13(1)(b) & 13(2) of PC Act-1988, PS-Vigilance, UT Chandigarh has been registered and is being further investigated.

Dr. Dharampal, Chief Vigilance Officer-cum-Adviser to Administrator UT stated that the Chandigarh Administration has ‘ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY’ against corruption and strict action will be taken against those found involved in such activities. Dr. Dharampal, CVO-cum-AA UT further stated that similar more such traps will be led in coming days to provide clean Administration to the Citizens of Chandigarh.
