CHANDIGARH POLICE BOOKED 85 FOR DRUNKEN DRIVING, 66 VEHICLES IMPOUNDED

On the eve of New Year -2023, Chandigarh Traffic Police laid special drives on 30 & 31.12.2022 to curb the rash and negligent driving by the youngsters on the road and also make traffic arrangements to avoid the traffic jams on the busy junctions of the city to facilitate the general public. Total 418 Traffic police officials were deployed in the field 

During these special drives total 2712 traffic violators were prosecuted in various traffic violations out of which 85 persons were booked for drunken driving including 66 vehicles impounded. During drives people were also made aware to drive carefully specially in fog, not to violate the traffic rules and avoid driving after consuming alcohol.(SUBHEAD)

On these special drives/nakas, staff was instructed to follow safety guidelines meticulously. Furthermore, the drive against drunken driving and other traffic violations will continue in future for the safety and benefit of public in general on road.

Meanwhile on the eve of “Happy New Year 2023” i.e. 31-12-2022/01-01-2023” between 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, Chandigarh ERSS PSAP (Police Control Room) received calls, out of which spot generated. Police ERUs (PCR) dispatched on 194 spots, Fire ERUs (Fire tender) dispatched on 01 spots and Medical ERUs (Ambulance) dispatched on 45 spots.
