JASSAL COUPLE WINS 6 MEDALS

A couple of Ekta Colony here that had been motivating the youth to stay away from the swamp of drugs, has won six medals in the 14th Rajasthan Master Athletics Championship that concluded yesterday at Maharaja Ganga Singh Stadium in Sriganganagar, 40km from here. The couple, both retired govt school teachers, has been regularly participating in such tournaments in Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana.

(MOREPIC1) Jaspal Kaur (72) participated in three different events, winning gold medal in discus throw, silver medals in hammer throw and javelin throw. Her 70-year-old husband Gulshinder Singh Jassal won silver medals in discus throw, hammer throw and javelin throw events.

The couple has so far won a total of 130 medals by participating in different Master Athletics Championships organized at different places across the country. The couple is now gearing up to participate in the National Athletics Championships to be held in Panchkula in the coming month.
