RAMKUMAR LOSES IN FIRST ROUND; MUKUND AND SUMIT IN MAIN DRAW

LITHUANIA: Seventh seed Laurent Lokoli of France defeated Indian Ramkumar Ramanathan by 6-1, 6-4 in the singles first round of the € 45,730 Vilnius Open, Lithuania. The match lasted 67 minutes. Ramkumar earned €450.

Laurent, who unleashed four aces and committed a lone double fault, converted three out of four breakpoints. Ramkumr Ramanathan from Chennai saved one breakpoint out of four. He committed two double faults and served a solitary ace.

Laurent broke Ramanathan in the second and sixth games to win the first set in 24 minutes with a 6-1 score. In the second set, Ramkumar played better but that was not enough to extricate himself from the jaws of defeat.

The Indian player was broken in the fifth set as Ramanathan trailed 2-3. Laurent went on to win the set at 6-4 in 43 minutes and the match.
