Chandigarh Tamil Sangam on Friday organized its annual social welfare campaign Festival of Sharing Warmth, dedicated to the unsung heroes who keep the City Beautiful clean, dignified and vibrant. More than 250 housekeeping employees of the city were honoured for their invaluable contribution to cleanliness and for maintaining Chandigarh as a model of sanitation across the country.

The programme was held at Bharati Bhawan, Sector 30, where Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, attended as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests included G. Madhavan, IAS (Retd), Raji Pramod Srivastava, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Department of Freedom Fighters, Government of Punjab, J. M. Balamurugan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Soldier Welfare, Government of Punjab, G. Rajini Kanthan, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Haryana, and P. Abhinandan, DANIPS, DSP, Chandigarh.

Office bearers of Chandigarh Tamil Sangam — S. P. Rajasekaran, Shiva Subramanian, S. Ganesan and other members of the Sangam — welcomed all guests and said that their presence added both inspiration and dignity to this unique ceremony dedicated to honouring the dignity of labour and the spirit of service.

Rajasekaran shared that blankets and mementos were presented to the sanitation workers to acknowledge their daily commitment to keeping the city clean.

The Sangam resolved to continue such meaningful social welfare programmes in the future as well, to strengthen harmony, respect and cultural unity in the city.
