During the meeting with Health Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra here, MLA Sandeep Jakhar along with Mayor Vimal Thatai and some councilors gave a memorandum to draw his attention towards shortcomings in the 100-bedded Civil Hospital.

The memorandum said that for some time the civil hospital was suffering from shortage of medicines, doctors and some other material, due to which the public faced a lot of trouble. Due to non-availability of Skin, Eye & ENT specialists, patients and those who were to get driving licenses are facing a lot of problems. An orthopedic surgeon is also short in the hospital, they should be appointed soon.

(SUBHEAD)The MLA said that for the past few months, there has been a shortage of medicines in the hospital, patients have to buy medicines from the market. Necessary medicines should be made available. He told the minister that no CT scan facility was available in the hospital, The number of people injured in accidents on two national and one state highway has been highest in the district. Patients have to be taken to Sriganganagar for CT scan. Here CT Scan machine should be made available.

Jakhar said that the drug de-addiction center of the hospital is proving to be a white elephant as medicines are not available in proper quantity here. Due to which the patients again fall into the grip of intoxication. This shortcoming should be removed. The oxygen plant of the hospital established during the Corona period stayed closed for the past two months due to minor technical faults. The minister assured to fill the vacancies soon besides taking up other issues.
