LIFT TO A GENTLEMAN SIKH ON BIKE, DEPRIVED OF MOBILE PHONE, ULTIMATELY ACCUSED HABITUAL OFFENDER NABS

In major breakthrough Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh has got success by arresting the accused Lovepreet Singh s/o Late Sh. Gurmit Singh r/o Village Mari Panawan, Distt. Gurdaspur, Punjab and solved the theft case FIR No. 137 dated 28.08.2022 u/s 379 IPC added 411 IPC of Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh within 24 hours under close guidance of Sh. Charanjit Singh Virk, CPS, DSP/South Division and under the supervision of Inspector Ranjit Singh, SHO/PS-31, Chandigarh. 

Present case was registered on the complaint of Sh. Rakesh Kumar s/o Late Sh. Pyare Lal r/o House No. 1014, Sector-38 (West), DMC, Chandigarh in which he stated that he is doing private job in plot No. 944, Sector-82, Mohali, Punjab.

On 28.08.2022 at about 3.30 PM he was going to office on his motorcycle from Sector-22, Chandigarh. When he reached near Light Point 31/32, Chandigarh a Sikh Gentleman approach him for lift, on his request he has given him lift from there.(SUBHEAD)

He dropped him near light point 48/49, Chandigarh. When he reached in his office he found that a mobile phone from his pithu bag was missing. He further alleged that a person sitting behind him on this motorcycle had stolen his mobile phone from his pithu bag. 

In this regard a special team was constituted consisting ASI Surjit Singh 3273/CP, ASI Parmajit Singh, Sr. Ct Parveen Kumar, Ct. Ajay Dev of PS-31 and all nearby CCTV cameras were checked. Within 24 hours on the basis of secret information, a team succeeded to arrest a person namely Lovepreet Singh s/o Late Sh. Gurmit Singh r/o Village Mari Panawan, Distt. Gurdaspur, Punjab and recovered mobile phone from his possession.

During the course of investigation, it came to light that accused Lovepreet Singh is a habitual offender and two cases (snatching and theft) were already registered against him. Accused was dismissed from Punjab police, who was serving as constable. From the arrest of accused, a recently registered case of theft has been worked out.

Further investigation of the case is in progress.
