DEV SAMAJ COLLEGE OF EDUCATION DONATES RS 1 LAKH TO REGIONAL ORGAN AND TISSUE TRANSPLANT ORGANISATION

EYE AND ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME HELD

Dev Samaj College of Education(DSCE) held an eye and organ donation programme at its premises at Sector 36-B, here.

The activity was organised by DSCE in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh, to mark the eye donation week, which is annually observed from August 25 to September 8. The awareness session , organized by the NSS units and Eye Donation Club of DSCE, saw an overwhelming response from the students. Dr Agnese Dhillon welcomed the honourable guests for the session. The institution also presented a cheque of Rs One lakh to Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization, ROTTO (North) as a donation.  

The event took place under the able guidance of Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj and Dr Agnese Dhillon, Principal, Dev Samaj College of Education. The Chief Guest was Dr Vipin Koushal, MS and Head, Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER cum Nodal Officer, ROTTO (North).  

Amit Dewan, President and Founder of SUKH Foundation, an NGO involved in social welfare services and team members of ROTTO, Dr Mandeep, and Gurpinder along with Ritika were also present. The team of PGIMER showed a PowerPoint presentation on eye donation and sensitized the audience about the importance, process of eye donation and how one can light another person’s life even after leaving for his heavenly abode. 

(SUBHEAD)Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vipin Koushal appreciated the philosophy of Dev Samaj. He also highlighted that eyes are one of the most important sensory organs in the human body because it renders vision and the power to see. “Eye donation is one of the noble acts after blood donation,” he said.

Students were given the certificates for preparing the best slogans and posters on the theme. As a token of gratitude to the event coordinators, the Chief Guest gifted them paintings with a theme on organ donation. The Principal of the college motivated the students for voluntarily participating in such events and congratulated teachers in- charge of the Eye Donation Club – Dr Anuradha Agnihotri and Dr Shefali Cheema for meticulously and diligently helping in conducting the event.
