Hundreds of women and minor children of all age groups braved heavy rain to make “Mela teeyan da” (Teej Festival) a big success. The grand event was organised by Surinder Jakhar Trust at Nehru Park here.

'Gali Chatkare Wali' (food street) equipped with delicious dishes, Jhoola, Kikli, Giddha, Bhangra and “Shilap-Shringar” market were highlights of the event entry to which was free. The entire area was also decorated by the women entrepreneurs of the town. The fair richly projected the culture of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Some groups of artists arrived from Delhi and Jalandhar to entertain the audience with live performances.

Chief guest MLA Sandeep Jakhar could not arrive due to inclement weather from abroad but he said in a message that the festival of Teej shows our cultural values and civilization besides connecting families. On the occasion 200 prizes were also distributed through lucky draws.
