The Apna Abohar, Apni Abha team organised 84th weekly cleanliness camp on Saturday to clean Daulatpura Minor (sub canal) near Kandhwala Road.
Legislator Sandeep Jakhar said that it is our own responsibility to conserve water and maintain the environment. With the rapid pace of urbanization and industrialization and increasing pollution and continuous increase in population, ensuring the availability of drinking water for every person is a major challenge.
As the mercury soars, the problem of water in many parts of the country is taking a formidable form. Every year this problem increases more than before, but we always think that just as soon as the summer season comes out, the problem will go away with the arrival of monsoon. People keep indifference towards water conservation, which is not proper.
He said that by throwing dirt in the canals, we are slowly drinking the poison. In this direction, today's cleanliness campaign was dedicated to the environment. Besides keeping the town clean, people need to be motivated to stop throwing garbage in canals.
The disciples of Ashutosh Maharaj provided refreshments to all the volunteers. MC Mayor Vimal Thatai was also present.
