NCB SECURES CONVICTION IN 2 KG HEROIN TRAFFICKING CASE: 2 ACCUSED SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT

FaceNews/Amritsar

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Amritsar Zonal Unit, has secured the conviction of two accused persons, namely Omkar Singh @ Onkar Singh (r/o- Gharinda, Amritsar, Punjab) and Gurdev Singh (r/o- Ajnala, Amritsar, Punjab), in a case relating to trafficking of heroin.

On 31.03.2017, a team of NCB, Amritsar, intercepted a Toyota Innova bearing registration No. PB-11-BF-3941 near village Kamaska, Kamaska-Vanike Road, District Amritsar. During the search of the vehicle, 2 kg of heroin was recovered from underneath the middle seat of the vehicle leading to arrest of the two convicts.

Upon completion of trial, the Hon’ble Special Court, Amritsar, vide judgment dated 29.09.2026, held that the prosecution had successfully proved the recovery of 2 kg heroin from the possession of a Omkar Singh @ Onkar Singh and Gurdev Singh ( the owner of the vehicle) and their involvement in the offence. The Hon’ble Court further found that the recovered heroin had been smuggled into India across the Indo-Pak border. Accordingly, two accused were sentenced to 12 years of Rigorous Imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh each. The court has also ordered confiscation of the vehicle.

This successful conviction underscores NCB’s firm commitment to combating drug trafficking through professional investigation and effective prosecution. The Bureau remains steadfast in its mission to curb the menace of narcotics and contribute towards the vision of a Drug-Free India (Nasha Mukt Bharat).
