Face2News/Chandigarh

The District and Sessions Judge of Chandigarh has granted anticipatory bail to Biswajit Das and Dinesh Das (father and son) from Kolkata in a cyber crime case.

The case dates back to 2022, when approximately ₹2,40,000 were transferred into their bank account from an unknown account. Following directions from the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in 2024, Chandigarh Police registered an FIR against them.

Subsequently, both appeared in Chandigarh through Advocate Mohammad Uzair and filed an anticipatory bail application, which was accepted by the District and Sessions Court.

It is worth noting that regular bail in cyber crime cases is generally not granted easily.

At present, cybercrime is at its peak.

In Chandigarh alone, around 10 to 15 FIRs are registered daily. Most of the victims in such cases are senior citizens, especially those who have substantial amounts of money in their bank accounts.
