LIBRARY ORIENTATION PROGRAMME HELD AT DAV COLLEGE, SECTOR 10, CHANDIGARH

The Library of DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, organized an Orientation Programme for the first-year students to acquaint them with the library resources and services.

(MOREPIC1)The event commenced with an insightful briefing on libraries and their synergy with Artificial Intelligence, presented by Komal, a final-year student of the college. This was followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting by College Librarian Dr. Deepti Madaan, Dr. Shivani Chopra, member, library committee, library staff members and panel members of RAAH-The Library Club.

In her welcome address, Dr. Deepti Madaan motivated the students to make the best use of the library. She encouraged them to read extensively and move beyond over-dependence on IoT-based voice assistants like Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant and ChatGPT.

She gave a thoughtful presentation apprising students about the print and e-resources of the library and ways and means to use them for their academic pursuits. Principal Dr. Mona Narang conveyed her best wishes for the library and the newly formed panel of RAAH- The Library Club. Dr. Shivani Chopra, Member of the Library Committee, also inspired the students to cultivate the habit of reading and learning through books.

She emphasised on the fact that sitting and studying in the library is also a form of meditation. The highlight of the event was the panel formation of RAAH – The Library Club, which stands for Read, Acquire, Achieve, and Harmonise. The RAAH Panel for 2025–26 was formally announced with Shaurya Thakur as President, Komal as Vice President, Mohd.

Faisal as General Secretary, Tina as Joint Secretary. Advisory members include Moksha, Gurshan, Krish and Rohit while the Executive Members are Khushi, Pragati, Aarti, and Sushant. New panel members of RAAH were given badges, formally inducting them into their roles.

The former Vice-President of the club also shared his enriching experiences and congratulated the new team. To engage the students further, an exciting Treasure Hunt Activity was organized. Participants enthusiastically learned to use the OPAC system to trace books from the shelves in a fun and interactive manner. The winning team was felicitated with certificates of appreciation.
